Pythagoras (c. 570 – c. 495 BC): Philosopher, mathematician and musician, Pythagoras believed that harmony existed not only in music, but also in the cosmos. He saw numerical relationships in musical intervals and proposed that the movement of celestial bodies also followed harmonious mathematical principles.
